How Tome of Madness plays
Rich Wilde and the Tome of Madness is a Play’n GO cluster-pays slot from 2019, part of the Rich Wilde series alongside Book of Dead. It plays on a 5×5 grid with a Lovecraft-inspired theme. Matching symbols that touch form wins, the winning symbols drop out, and new ones cascade in.
Portal symbols collected in winning clusters charge a meter. As it fills, it triggers features that reshape the grid, such as extra wilds and symbol swaps, and the top of the meter brings in Cthulhu, a 3×3 mega symbol, and leads into the free spins.
Do not confuse it with Rich Wilde and the Tome of Insanity, a separate 2024 game with a different maths model and a much higher listed maximum.
Volatility in practice
High. Many spins produce small cascades, and the meaningful wins come from the late stages of the portal meter and the free spins. With a 2,000x ceiling, the top end is modest for a high-volatility game, so the swings are real but the rare big result is smaller than on newer titles.
